In this section we are featuring T57 Eagle Scouts who row at the Scholastic Level.
Did you know May is Scholastic Rowing Month in Virginia? Read the Governor's proclamation.
Did you know that Troop 57 as of June 2008 has 10 boys on our list of eagle scouts who were rowers in high school. The Governor of the Commonwealth of Viriginia Timothy M. Kaine has designated May as Scholastic Rowing Month, and it is only fitting that our featured Eagle Scouts be the scouts of Troop 57 who also represented their high school in the sport of crew. They are eagle scouts who are outstanding rowers who have also done great things during their rowing years.
Eagle Scout Chris Mulholland. and Eagle Scout Steven B. Both Steven and Chris are current seniors at GBHS. Chris is the stroke seat and Steven is the #6 seat for the Great Bridge Crew Team's boys lightweight eight. Lightweight means that all of the boys in the boat weigh 150lbs or less. Chris and Steven's boat are the lightweight eight Champions at the Tidewater Regional Regatta and are one of two boats from Great Bridge to win a VA State Championship at the Virginia State Championships at Occoquan VA on May 12th. South Hampton Roads has never had a State Championship in rowing until this year, and Chris and Steven were a big part of their boats success. At the Stotesbury Cup Regatta, with over 175 schools and 5100 athletes from US and Canada, Steven and Chris' lightweight eight finished 6th in the boys lightweight eight competition - and incredible accomplishment considering the size of this regatta held on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia. Both boys are heading the Scholastic Rowing Championships next weekend ...we wish them luck. Eagle Scout Chris Cameron. Chris is part of Great Bridge Crew boys lightweight four boat which are the lightweight Champions at the Tidewater Regional Regatta this year. Chris' boat finished fourth at the Virginia States. Picture: Chris Cameron is the second rower from the left in this shot taken in Mathews County Regatta this April. Also in this boat is T57 Life Scout Anton K. (red hat).

Eagle Scout John McGehee. John McGehee. Jr. is Great Bridge Crew's lone single sculler ...which means he raced by himself with two oars. John had a great year also winning a Tidewater Regional Regatta Championship. Picture: John Jr. rowing to the start of his next race.

Eagle Scout Chris R. Chris is part of Great Bridge Crew boys first eight boat. Chris' boat won a Championship for boys' first eight at Tidewater Regionals this year. Picture: Chris with his cool sunglasses rowing hard at the Virginia State Championships.

Eagle Scout Kevin Luhman. Kevin was a coxswain at Great Bridge crew for 3 1/2 years. Considered one of the best coxswains in Great Bridge crew history, Kevin led many boats to championships over his years at Great Bridge.
Eagle Scout Ray Starsman. Ray was a member of the Hickory High School crew team, mens first eight boat during his years at Hickory High.
Eagle Scout Will Bogdanowicz. Will rowed for Great Bridge High School and won numerous Tidewater Regional Championships during his years at GBHS. Will currently rows at the Collegiate Level for Holy Cross.
Eagle Scout Matt VanOekel. Matt also rowed for Great Bridge High School and won numerous Tidewater Regional Championships during his years at GBHS.
Troop 57 currently has others scouts who are on their way to Eagle Scout and are currently are rowing: T57 Life Scout Anton K is a member of Chris Cameron's boat enjoying the same success as Chris did this year. T57 Life Scout Seth D. is a member of Eagle Scout Chris R.'s boat. T57 Life Scout Greg V. is a member of GB Crew boys 1st four. Greg won a Regional Championship, came in fourth at Virginia States this year and made it to the semifinals at Stotesbury Cup Regatta this year. Greg V. had a great year.
